WHAT'S ON YOUR HOOKS AND NEEDLES
This month has been filled with all sorts of fun items from our contributors. Squares, hats, toys and blankets.
There are links to patterns to revisit from the past.
The best highlight is a poem written by Anne Powell:
All of our volunteers have started the year off with a lots of post and sharing what they did over their summmer break. Visit this discussion for all the latest news.
SQUARES LIST 2025
Look for updates to start in February or March
2025 HELPFUL REMINDERS
Our squares need to measure 20 cm/8 inches
We need tails on every square to be able to sew the squares together. These tail measure 50 cm/20 inches. ( a quick measure use 3 sides of your square. Butterfly the tail in the corner.
Please use Worsted/Aran weight yarn/wool, or #4.. We like our yarn/wool weight to match up evenly in our blankets.
Sew in all color changes tails.
Put a zero/one value ($0/$1)on all parcels being shipped to South Africa. Anything more cause high postal charges. Do Not insure your parcels. Mark parcels as gifts, donations, or humanitarian relief.
REQUESTED LINKS FOR NEW IDEAS
From our Members Pattern Pages
(these are from our previous webpage provider so photos are not available)

And here is the pattern:
- Row 1 & 3: edge st, p1, *k5, p2; repeat from * to last 7 sts, k5, p1, edge st
- Row 2 & 4: edge st, purl across to last st, edge st
- Row 5, 7, 9, 11: edge st, k1, *p5, k2; repeat from * to last 7 sts, p5, k1, edge st
- Row 6, 8, 10, 12: edge st, purl across to last st, edge st
- Repeat rows 1 through 12
- This is a multiple of 7 sts plus 2. I used 37 sts on a 4.5 mm needle for an 8 inch square.
I don't have a name for this pattern. I just found a picture of it online with the row directions, but no name. It might be available in one or more of the online stitch dictionaries with a better picture and a name.
Bev has contributed these marvelous squares as additions to the tribute blanket for Marion Davies.
Check out the other contribution during January 2025 here.
FEBRUARY COM -GREY

KAS Snippets is always a good way to catch up. What a great idea to jog our memories with a few reminders.
It's always a treat to find things written by our wonderful contributors, and Anne's message in this poem is spot on! Thank you, Amy ... xo
Thank you so much for putting this all together for us. I always enjoy a chance to review the various discussions on the website, and maybe pick up things that I missed along the way. And it is always fun to review the blankets that arrive in the Barn, and get inspiration from them.
Thanks Amy Super Snips and for sharing Anne's poem. Her poems are brilliant!
