I laughed at your comment about my magic cupboard. Actually it is magic I have crammed so much yarn in there I don't know whats hiding. I made two hats out of two sides [of just the front ] of a go-over I never finished. I didn't photograph them before I packed them up unfortunately.

      Dear Dawne:

Thank you so much for recommending "The Brand New Knitter" DVD!  It arrived today, and I am having so much fun with it.  I have already found two things I've been doing wrong!

I really appreciate the help.  Thanks again!

Thanks Dawn, I knitted my first square with wool that my Mum bought and didn't use, so its just dong it in between the knitting projects that I have on the go at the moment. I haven't been living in Cape Town for very long, almost a year now and am still finding good yarn shops and material shops, it's difficult here it seems.

      Hi Dawne! And thanks.

I'm fairly new to knitting, but have found a couple of lovely places. If you are in central London, then near Carnaby Street is All the fun of the Fair

http://all-the-fun-of-the-fair.blogspot.com/ a cute little shop with lots of nice bits and bobs. There's also the Rowan yarns section of Liberty just down the road.

However, if you have time to go exploring, my favourite store is Loop in Islington... so much yarn! and lovely surroundings.

I hope you have a great time exploring London!

Hi Dawne. I am pleased to join the SC Forum and thank you for the welcome. I will certainly look forward to learning some interesting knitting techniques other than plain knitting squares. I do crochet a bit as well, but I like the knitted squares. Thank you for your warm welcome.

Sorry Dawne I have no idea what that is. I do not do Facebook, or Twitter or anything else like that. I just do my emails and I have my "blog" on this site but I do not blog anywhere else. Most of my friends are older than me and it has to be good old fashioned "telephone" with them they have not even progresses to having a computer in their homes.

      Hi Dawne,
Thanks for posting the link to the diamond in the square pattern.
On a similar vein, I have always wondered why the patterns are listed under the forum and not under the pattern section. Is it a computer problem ? (I'm not very computer literate )
Also, thanks for being such a great mod for the forum.
      Linda
